My choreographic work revolves around topics that address identity, connection and belonging. The research I am conducting is to create a methodology of moving which has the philosophy of taking culture, experience and trauma and how they reflect within the personal movement signature of the subject. In other words the embodied echo of the past in your identity.

The interest started from my own pathway in life, not shy of formative experiences which have shaped the person and creator that I am today. The constant uncertainty of where I belong and who I identify with urged me to examine concepts with sociological, cultural and psychological backgrounds. I am fascinated by issues that uncover how social identities may be embraced and linked with each other.

While residing in Poland and Lithuania, I have learned a lot about their culture and people. In particular, the intense national pride and identity which emerged as a result of generational trauma gave me a lot of insights into the importance of being a part of a community. This experience made me realize the strength in relating to others with similar stories. Therefore I would like to develop projects which could be an instrument for social change. With my creations I am fond of encouraging the community to become more open-minded and tolerant toward controversial topics.

To develop meaningful work that explores sensitive topics in the future, I am enrolled in the Masters program COMMA: Co-creation Of Movement Masters of Arts. A joint degree between Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts (NL) and Codarts University of the Arts (NL).

Part of my journey is learning from other creators with diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. Since growth demands effort, I am eager to be challenged by unfamiliar work processes that could influence and broaden my current vision of choreography. The goal is to enrich my knowledge and resourcefulness by exploring new areas in the field as well as testing foreign methods and ideas. Additionally, the human factor is vital in creating unique performance set-ups that have a community value. When people with different approaches come together, imaginative projects with the most peculiar ideas come into reality.
